Pact changed the name it operates under recently – from the ”PACT Group” to “Pact”. Pact’s CEO Louise Carr explains why.
Until quite recently we used the name the PACT Group for the working title of the various trusts which provide support to our clients. Of course, because of the capitals, people often asked what PACT stood for and we would answer “Patients Aid Charitable Trust,” which is the trust Pact grew out of. However, it’s obvious this name does not reflect the work Pact does—we don’t refer to the people we support as patients.
When Pact’s Dunedin office moved location, letterheads and business cards had to be re-printed anyway to reflect the change of address, so we decided to also take the opportunity to rebrand with a new logo and a slight change of the name we operate under. (Officially, the PACT Group still exists, but is no longer the name we “trade” under.)
We have stuck with the name Pact, because the word “pact” is still meaningful in the context of the work we do. One could interpret it as making a pact with the people we support, their families, the communities they live in or a pact with each other, the staff members.
So, the organisation is now known as Pact—with only a capital “P” (except in the logo where all lower case looked better for design purposes!).
Staff should use the name Pact rather than PACT Group in any documentation or correspondence.
