2 February 2009
The National Certificate in Support Services begins its first run at Pact this February with 30 staff from Otago and West Coast undertaking this course.
The course is primarily aimed at staff supporting clients with an intellectual disability. Pact is very excited about this as it is the first opportunity for staff to undertake a national New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved qualification in the intellectual disability field.
Staff will use a range of resources to undertake this training and a lot involves the use of work packs supported with group tutorials on a regular basis. This will involve some work in staff members’ own time. There will be regular workplace assessments to assess how the learning has been applied to the work with clients.
