PACT Southland was established in 1996 to provide innovative and culturally sensitive solutions for adults recovering from mental illness. PACT Southland serves Southland, including Gore, Bluff, Western Southland and Invercargill.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT - ADULT
Our community support workers assist people recovering from mental illness to live in the community, developing life skills and improving social networks in Invercargill and wider Southland including Western Southland and Gore. Services can be provided in people’s homes or at centres located in the community.
Intensive community support is also provided by Pact Southland. It is a community support service but either for more hours per week than community support or at a higher level.
A Maori community support worker is available to support local iwi.
FAMILY/WHANAU SUPPORT WORKER
We employ a specialist family/whanau support worker whose role it is to help families/whanau adapt to their family member’s illness. Support workers will teach family and whanau how best to support their family members.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION
Our homes support people recovering from mental illness in Invercargill.
There are also supported landlord services which have no on-site permanent staff, where one of the tenants takes responsibility for flat oversight and support staff are provided as required.
Meanwhile, respite services offer support for people living independently who need temporary relief from caring for themselves. Planned and emergency accommodation is available. Carer support caters for people and their families who may need a break from their usual care arrangements.
PACT YOUTH SOUTH
Pact Youth South (PYS) is a holistic service for children and youth recovering from mental illness. Based in Invercargill and staffed with trained clinical staff, PYS offers supported accommodation, day programmes, crisis respite care, community support and family/whanau support. |
