Every Tuesday patrons at Pact’s Armitage in Dunedin limber up and enjoy an hour of fun exercise.

If you haven’t heard of Zumba yet (and that is quite unlikely given its popularity), it’s the use of Latin and international rhythms together with easy-to-follow moves to create a fun way to exercise.

Nina Collins, a qualified primary teacher with three years working in conductive education, recently qualified as a Zumba Gold instructor. Zumba Gold qualifies instructors to teach both active people, but also true beginners and includes the Zumba chair workout.

Nina aims for her classes to be adaptive and inclusive for everyone – without losing the fun "dance meets exercise" mix that makes Zumba so much fun.

The classes at The Armitage cater for not only people who can stand while exercising, but also to those who need to be seated. Support workers assist clients who need some help to take part and they can also join in themselves.

The smiles on the faces of everyone taking part each week say it all. Many Options clients respond well to music and clearly enjoy the class, while at the same time getting a good workout.

If you would like to find out more about these Zumba classes, contact Armitage staff or Nina on orangenina@gmail.com or ring Nina on 027 207 0652.
